The Monthly Mettle Challenge is back—and this time, it’s stretching me in more ways than one. June’s challenge is all about yoga. I’ll be honest: I don’t like yoga. It’s time-consuming, I’m not good at it, and sometimes it just plain hurts. But as I’ve learned through this journey, growth doesn’t come from comfort. If I want to get stronger—physically and mentally—I need to do hard things on purpose. That’s what forging your mettle is all about.

Why Yoga, Why Now?

I’ve tackled gratitude, faith, fasting, digital detox, and even fire-and-ice recovery in previous challenges. Each one brought its own rewards and lessons. But yoga? It’s a different kind of tough. It’s not about brute strength or endurance. It’s about patience, presence, and humility—qualities I know I need, but don’t always want to practice.

Research from positive psychology tells us that up to 40% of our happiness and well-being comes from intentional activities—doing things on purpose to make our lives better. That’s the heart of the Monthly Mettle Challenge: choosing to do things that stretch us, even when we’d rather not.
